SHETLAND PONY STUD BOOK SOCIETY NOTICES
Whilst every effort is made by the society to ensure that the information given regarding Pedigree, ownership and details of colour, height and date of birth is correct, responsibility remains with the prospective purchaser to verify these details. Liability for errors and omissions will not be accepted by the Shetland Pony Stud Book Society. Passports for ponies legally required to have one will be checked at the Society Sales in 2002. Please ensure you contact a ‘Checker’ to have your pony looked at with it’s passport prior to handing the passport to the market office official. It is the responsibility of the vendor or his/her agent to ensure this is carried out. All ponies sold for export from society sales in 2005 must have a passport. If a pony is bought by a foreign purchaser and the pony does not already have a passport, the PURCHASER will be required to pay £15 for a passport to be produced. This decision has been taken in order to ease acceptance by the foreign Stud-Book Society concerned. All lots must be registered with the Shetland Pony Stud Book Society, by 15th July at the latest & the vendor must lodge with the Auctioneers Passports where applicable prior to the sale. All other registration documents must be lodged with SPSBS prior to the sale. The auctioneers will then pass the passport to the new owner for the onward journey. If a female is shown in the catalogue as a ‘filly’, this means she has not yet bred a registered foal. Where it is stated that a mare has been scanned in foal, potential purchasers must be aware that, as mares may be scanned from as early as 17 days, there is no guarantee a foal will ultimately be produced. It must be accepted that reabsorbtion could take place.

The owner may take the pony to a Joint Measurement Board pad, at his/her own expense, if they so wish.

An International Pony Movement Certificate will be forwarded directly to the foreign Stud-Book Society concerned. The Society would like all vendors of ponies sold for export to be present whilst the Vet completes the IPMC. Should any pony sold for export not already have a passport, the purchaser must pay £15 for a passport to be produced. All ponies sold for export must be in possession of a passport.
20. A pony which has a Passport (all those born on or after 1 January 1998 ) must not be permitted to be presented for sale unless the Passport has been received by the Auctioneer’s Office prior to the Sale . The Passport must then be passed to the new owner for the onward journey.
21. The Society reserves the right to random DNA test ponies which would involve taking a hair sample.
